The Ottawa Safety Council seeks a part-time Finance and Admin Assistant to fill a one-year maternity leave placement with a possibility of extension.

 

The Finance and Admin Assistant will work under the direction of the Finance Coordinator.  This is an opportunity to work within a busy, thriving organization and with a supportive, proactive small team environment.  The position focuses on accounts receivable, accounts payable and other supportive finance administrative duties.

 

The candidate will be tasked with day to day bookkeeping duties including accounts payable, accounts receivable, batch processing, journal entries and bank and credit card entries.  The candidate may also assist in the data entry of our bi-weekly payroll schedule.

 

Our ideal candidate must be an excellent administrator, possess superior organizational skills and be a skillful communicator.  They must be familiar with Microsoft Office and demonstrate a good understanding of digital record keeping. The candidate must be familiar with QuickBooks or demonstrate an understanding of general bookkeeping practices in order to learn how to use QuickBooks. As well, the candidate must be able to provide a clear Vulnerable Sector Police Record Check and hold a valid driver’s license, as local travel is required.

 

Applicants are required to have at least 2 years’ experience or education in some aspect of Accounting and/or Bookkeeping. This position is an English essential.
