Child Care Program Helper

Hours of work: Must be available to work: Monday to Friday between the hours of 8am to 6pm, A minimum of 12 hours weekly, and an opportunity for 20 hours or more weekly.

Typical Shifts:


9:00 to 5pm

9:30 to 6pm

1pm to 5pm

2pm to 6pm


Job description:

Working with regular program teachers and support staff in child care programs by helping them in their activities that are designed to promote social, physical, and intellectual growth of the children in attendance (ages ranging from 3 months to 12 years of age.)

  • Problem solving skills
  • Effective verbal and listening communications skills
  • Time management skills
  • Experience: 1 to 2 years working with children (ages infant to 12yr.) in a child care setting, licensed facility preferred
  • Education: High School Diploma is required, ECE qualified or some post-secondary education Early Childhood Education or a related field of study will be considered.

Candidates with the above experience and who have the following documents available will be given first consideration;

  • Police Record Check for the Vulnerable Sector (less than 6 months)
  • Standard First Aid and CPR level C
  • Immunization including your MMR (Mumps, Measles, and Rubella usually at 4-6yrs old)
  • Immunization including Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis (14 yrs. old to 16 yrs. old)
  • Immunization including 10-year booster
  • A copy of the Ministry of Labour’s Health and Safety Certificate

  • Resume showing related child care experience and or education
  • Two employment reference letters or 2 email addresses of employment references
  • WHIMIS Certified
