Pathways to Independence provides supportive housing options, recreation programs, psychiatric counselling and behaviour therapy, court and justice related services and short-term respite to adults with a developmental disability, an acquired brain injury, or those who may be dually diagnosed.

Operating in the South East and Champlain Regions of Ontario, Pathways is fully accredited by the Commission for the Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). Pathways is a preferred provider of community based ABI services and supports through the Local Health Integration Networks (LHIN) that service the Champlain and South East regions of Ontario.

Pathways to Independence requires three (3) Casual Support Workers who will work as members of the residential support team to enhance the social, leisure, and daily living activities of clients with a developmental disability or an acquired brain injury. 

The Support Worker supports adults with a developmental disability or an acquired brain injury with homemaking, personal care, and community and personal development skills in accordance with the person’s Quality of Life Plan.  The Support Worker ensures that the person’s services and supports promote their rights, choices, self-determination, and independence, and builds personal and community living skills.

 The successful candidate must have:

  • Secondary School Graduation, and a minimum one year post-secondary certificate in Human or Health Sciences (Personal Support Worker or equivalent).  Proof of education is a condition of employment. 
  • Current First Aid and CPR
  • Valid G class driver’s licence

The successful candidate must have access to their own vehicle, required.

Ideal candidates will also have experience and abilities aligned with the key responsibilities for these positions, which includes:

  • Demonstrate a person centred philosophy and commitment to agency vision, mission and guiding principles;
  • Experience working with adults with a developmental disability in a community based, group living or independent living environment;
  • Provide effective services and supports to supported persons;
  • Manage and maintain accurate client information and documentation;
  • Participate in and ensure a positive team environment.
