Overall Summary of Duties

The Cleaner, reporting to the Owner, is responsible for cleaning clients’ homes and small business offices. The Cleaner is also required to report to management to confirm what work was completed, the timeline required to complete it, and any issues that arose. The ideal Cleaner is a self-motivated and hardworking individual who loves to clean. Cleaners work in teams of two, one driver who is driving the vehicle for transportation to and form work sites and one passenger.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for dusting and washing surfaces, vacuuming, cleaning toilets and sinks, and mopping by following the standards set out by the company and using our suggested and supplied cleaning products.
  • Ensure exceptional customer service is provided with every interaction.
  • Ensure all employees and customers are treated with respect at all times.
  • Driver: responsible for arranging a convenient location to meet with your partner to pick them up and drive them to the first client, then to each consecutive client, and finally to drop them off at a convenient location for both after the end of the work day.
  • Passenger: responsible for taking public transport or however they want to get to that convenient location that they would have arranged with the partner who will be driving.
  • Required to report to the manager physically at the central office location every Friday after the last client. At this meeting, you are expected to bring all of the payments from clients for the given week, bring any receipts or expenses that you may have incurred in the course of your work, and report on any activities for the given week that you may have otherwise forgotten to mention earlier.

Key Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • Successful completion of Grade 10
  • Driver: driver’s licence in good standing


An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.


  • Ability to successfully undergo a criminal records check.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English to Ontario grade 10 standards.
  • Ability to perform physical work for extended periods of time, including frequent kneeling, bending, and light lifting (up to 30 lbs).
  • Ability to work around common house pets such as dogs, cats, birds, and reptiles.
  • Ability to work in areas that contain allergens such as dust.
  • Ability to learn new methods of cleaning and working.
  • Ability to communicate with clients and team members.
  • Ability to demonstrate the understanding of the importance of sanitizing and cleaning.
  • Ability to provide personal transportation to and from work sites
  • Ability to juggle competing priorities.
  • Ability to problem solve.


  • Residential cleaning experience.
  • Bilingualism.

Hours of Work

Typical hours of work are Monday to Friday, 9 am to 6 pm, with occasional work on evenings or weekends.


Job duties may be changed at the employer’s discretion in order to reflect current business requirements.
