Working closely with the Scouting Experience team, you will support the continued development and improvement of Scotus Canada’s program: The Canadian Path.

Your primary areas of focus will be:

  • Ensuring continued alignment of the curriculum with trends in the experiential education and youth leadership sector.
  • Measuring curriculum impact, reach and engagement.
  • Designing and support implementation of new instructional content.

You will be responsible for but not limited to the following:

  • Lead and manage the development and implementation of Scouts Canada’s core program, The Canadian Path. These responsibilities are identified but not limited to:
    • Provide leadership in the development of program concepts to support the program.
    • Design and develop resources to support Scouters (Volunteers) in facilitating programs for youth
    • Design and develop resources for youth to support peer education
    • Work with partners (internal and external) to further develop and promote the program
  • Manage the development of supporting programs (STEM, Outdoor Adventure, International, etc.). These responsibilities are identified but not limited to:
    • Ensuring that supporting programs are fully integrated with The Canadian Path
    • Including recruiting and supporting volunteers and subject matter experts to assist in the expansion of supporting programs
  • Monitor, analyze and share with the membership, new research relative to youth development, educational trends, recreational areas and shifts in societal practices which could impact on the age groups served within the Movement
  • Provide support and guidance as required with respect to other programs and projects which are directed through the Program & Volunteer Services Department (Large Events/Jamborees, external partners, etc)
  • In collaboration with the (Revenue) Development team, research and pursue funding opportunities to help enhance our ability to support existing and planned programs

What you bring to the table:

  • The ability to develop positive, effective working relationships with staff, volunteers and members
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to convey safety information in a positive and engaging manner
  • Highly strategic thinker and can develop programs that support organizational goals
  • Strong project management skills to see program projects through from development, execution and evaluation 
  • Team player and the ability to positively influence a collaborative environment
  • Creative thinker and bring innovative ideas and concepts to programs
  • Energetic, motivated self-starter with a strong drive for results
  • Flexible and understands there is more than one way to accomplish a goal
  • A passion for Scouts Canada’s Mission is essential
  • Related post secondary education or combination of education and work experience
  • Master’s Degree in Education is an asset
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in teaching and/or program development with youth
  • Broad knowledge of the principles and practices of current educational trends in curriculum and instruction
  • Experience of developing educational public health messages would be an asset
