JOB DESCRIPTION:
Cash for Trash is a rapidly growing scrap metal recycling facility located just outside of Ottawa in Stittsville. CFT is interested in hiring a Fleet and Equipment Manager/Dispatcher who can work closely with the coordinator, operators and drivers to not only deal with breakdowns on the road, but also schedule and ensure routine and preventative maintenance is performed on our fleet of transport trucks, trailers, tow trucks, roll off trucks, clam trucks, loaders, material handlers, balers, forklifts etc.
In addition to being responsible for all fleet and equipment maintenance decisions, this individual will also dispatch 4 transport trucks ensuring that all commitments are met and that any unforeseen circumstances are dealt with promptly.
The ideal candidate will have experience as a mechanic, heavy diesel mechanic and mechanical knowledge and aptitude to help with cost effective and sound decision making.
Responsibilities:
- Scheduling all maintenance on machines, tow trucks, transport trucks and trailers from multiple sites.
- Keeping accurate and accessible records on all repairs and maintenance
- Ensuring inspections, CVOR and other applicable licenses are up to date at all times
- Collaborating with human resources during the hiring process of drivers and operators
- Working with drivers and operations team to design and dispatch all trip plans for our fleet in a way that is profitable for both the company and the drivers
- Ensuring that daily logs including pre-trips are complete and accurate and creating and maintaining a compliant system
- Communication with the insurance company to ensure new drivers are added to the policy quickly and accurately
- Other duties as determined by management
Skills and Requirements:
- Extremely high regard for safety and compliance (on the road and in the yard)
- Proficient at prioritizing and multi-tasking
- Excellent people and communication skills
- Experience in mechanics or a similar role is vital
- Ability to make fast sound decisions keeping efficiency top of mind
- Strong computer skills
- Ability to learn new software
- Adapt to rapidly evolving business changes
