Casual Child Minder

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Manager, EarlyON Child and Family Centre, the Child Minder provides child care while parents/caregivers participate in WOCRC programs, services and workshops throughout Kanata, West Carleton, and Goulbourn. Child Minders are responsible for ensuring a safe and stimulating environment for children under the age of twelve.  Parents/caregivers of the children will be onsite and available during child minding periods.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Provide child care while parents/caregivers attend programs and workshops across various WOCRC programs

  • Ensuring parent/caregiver check-in and child sign-in;
  • Setting up and cleaning up of play areas;
  • Serving snack;
  • Providing stimulating, age appropriate activities;
  • Maintaining a safe, secure environment;
  • Modeling appropriate child guidance techniques;
  • Prepare and maintain client and information files
  • Prepare and maintain all necessary documentation and statistics related to responsibilities and duties

  • Working in a manner that preserves confidentiality and seeks to minimize risk in keeping with Privacy and Confidentiality Policies and Procedures;
  • Supporting the Centre�s student and volunteer placement programs;
  • Working during both regular and extended hours of operation in locations identified by the Centre;
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience or education in caring for children;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of child development, age appropriate games and activities.
  • Ability to communicate clearly;
  • First Aid/CPR Certified;
  • Ability to travel throughout our catchment area (Kanata, West Carleton and Goulbourn)
  • Valid driver�s license and access to a vehicle required, including $2 million in liability insurance
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours as this is a casual position, including daytime, evenings and weekends.

 

LANGUAGE

  • Ability to communicate fluently in English, spoken and written
  • Bilingualism (English and French) an asset
  • Ability to communicate in other languages reflective of our population served an asset

Salary: $15.30 per hour
