Skills and Qualifications

Include, but not limited to, the following minimum skills and qualifications:

  • Previous supervisory training and/or experience considered an asset;
  • Must hold valid Transport Canada Aircraft Maintenance Engineers License E category;
  • ACA considered an asset;
  • Must be familiar with maintenance control – technical operation functions;
  • Must possess superior interpersonal & communication skills for internal and external customers;
  • Ability to communicate in Aboriginal Languages considered an asset;
  • Must be adept at managing multiple priorities and deadlines under minimal supervision;
  • Ability to communicate in Inuktut a definite asset;
  • Ability to obtain and retain an Airport Restricted Area Identity Card in accordance with the Airport Restricted Area Access Clearance Program regulated by Transport Canada.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

Interested candidates should be able to perform the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all Avionics work being accomplished at the Ottawa facility including modifications, line maintenance, and Battery/ wire harness repair shops;
  • Assign ACA holders, Technicians to their various tasks;
  • Ensures that all maintenance performed by employees working under his/her responsibility is to proper standards and uses approved materials and practices;
  • Ensures all planned Task cards, periodic inspections, and Deferred Maintenance Items (DMIs) are carried out in a timely manner;
  • Ensures that all work carried out is properly documented in accordance with the PMM and that the proper certification is entered in the log books. In the case where a repair is accomplished to an aircraft that requires periodic inspections, advises the Director of Quality Assurance in writing;
  • Ensures proper completion of all Aircraft Part Tags, both serviceable and unserviceable, are completed or originated;
  • Responsible for the care and control of Company owned publications, tools, and equipment by personally ensuring that publications, tools and equipment are returned after use;
  • Ensure facility housekeeping by personally ensuring that the hangar, equipment and office areas are left in a neat, clean and orderly fashion at the end of his/her shift;
  • Ensures that any required Maintenance Irregularity Reports (MIRs), Service Difficulty Reports (SDRs), Daily Status Reports and Aircraft Problem Communication Reports are completed and sent in a timely manner;
  • Responsible for OH&S compliance while on shift;
  • Other duties as assigned.
