EMPLOYER: Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ottawa

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Want to make a difference, want to work for a great cause?

BBBSO is looking for a General Laborer/Donation Helper.

Program overview and cause: Thanks to our community partnerships, each pound of clothing donated to one of our purple bins generates income for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ottawa. Funds raised through our Clothes for Kids’ Sake campaign directly support our programs. That means money for your old clothes go directly into mentoring programs in Ottawa!

BBBSO is looking for a general laborer/ donation collection helper to help our current driver during our peak donation periods.

We are looking for someone who can work 10 to 24 hours per week.

We are looking for someone who can do some heavy lifting and be part of a great team!

Physical requirements:

Candidate should be in excellent physical condition and able to do heavy labor/manual work. You should be able to lift bags of up to 50lbs.

Some of the duties would include helping the driver load bags of donated clothing items from the donation bins into large bags and loading them into the truck. Overview of Work schedule:

The candidate would meet our driver at our BBBSO office on Woodroffe Ave beside the Nepean Sportsplex (0r elsewhere if agreed upon by both persons) and would be riding along with him in our donation truck during the normal working schedule to collect, load and unload clothing donation bags. (All employees must wear masks while performing the duties of the position.)

BBBSO has many donation bins located across the city of Ottawa, the normal work schedule would involve going to different donation bins during the week to pick up the donated clothing, and this would be about twice a week or so pending donation levels and so on.

Once per week the donation helper and driver would empty the donation truck and fill up the transportation shipment bags at our GFGSO location in Gatineau. This includes getting into the large bags to compress the clothing in order to maximize its shipping capacity. Please note this is a physical job.
