Part-Time Furniture Mover

JOB DESCRIPTION:


Position Overview

The Furniture mover will perform pickups and deliveries of household furniture from donor and client homes. The mover will also assist the truck driver in identifying acceptable furniture and recording items accepted during pickups of donations.

 

Reporting

The mover will report directly to the Operations coordinator and Program Director.

 

ROLES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

General:

Primary duty is to travel with truck crew performing furniture pickups and drop offs and interacting with donors and clients. Movers will assist the driver in completing truck inspection before leaving for day’s trip and ensure trucks inventory of furniture moving tools and equipment are available and working. Furniture movers will be required to perform warehouse duties, as necessary. Warehouse duties include moving furniture from different rooms or locations and loading/ offloading donations. Clean truck and warehouse as needed.

 

Deliveries and Pickups:

 Understand and implement Furniture Bank procedures

 Knowledge of items accepted and not accepted

 Safe and effective loading and off -loading skills

 Good communication skills and awareness of cultural diversity

 Health and safety standards awareness

 Detail oriented documentation of items donated

 

Other

 

Warehouse:

Assist in warehouse as required

 

Working conditions:

 Lifting of heavy items, fluid work environment.

 Steel toe boots strongly recommended

 Work hours may vary due to volume of work
