OnSite Locates Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of J.D. Barnes Limited, is looking for a Utility Locator/Damage Prevention Technician. This position is responsible for performing private and pre-engineering utility locates while adhering to safety policies and practices, and meeting or exceeding quality and productivity goals.

Job Responsibilities

  • Utilize utility locating and surveying equipment to perform private and pre-engineering utility locates
  • Prepare job specific job safety analysis and journey management reports
  • Maintain accurate accounting of findings using hand drawings and notes
  • Submit all findings, notes, hours and necessary paperwork daily
  • Ensure that safety is a priority in all facets of our business
  • Maintain positive employee, client and public relations
  • Ensure that safety, quality and productivity goals are met or exceeded
  • Ensure all company and client policies, procedures, and standards are adhered to
  • Maintain open communications between yourself and management

Qualification

  • 1+ years of locating experience
  • Experience using and interpreting GPR and EM metal detection equipment an asset
  • Experience using GPS an asset
  • Excellent judgment, problem-solving and communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills within a multi-task environment
  • Must be able to work independently and manage time efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions
  • Must be able to work in a confined space, walk, stoop, bend and lift up to 50 pounds
  • Must be willing to travel out of town and possess a valid driver's license and safe driving record
  • Knowledge of locate theory, techniques and troubleshooting is an asset
  • Knowledge of ASCE 38-02 and CSA S250-11 Subsurface Utility Engineering standard procedures is an asset
  • Completion of Valid Damage Prevention Technician certificate from the Ontario Regional Common Ground Alliance is an asset
