Scope of Position

Under the direction of the Estimating Manager, the Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate quotations for the company’s products in response to requests from current and prospective customers. This role requires collaboration with Project Managers to facilitate a consistent understanding of customer requirements, as well as proactive engagement with customers to identify opportunities for upselling products and/or services.
 

Key Responsibilities

  • Reviews and interprets specifications and construction documents to understand the project needs and requirements.
  • Prepares quotations using the Company price lists, programs, and tools.
  • Liaises with customers as required for information gathering and responding to their inquiries.
  • Follows up with customers for feedback on quotes submitted and their decision to purchase.
  • Liaises with internal Project Managers and production and Engineering teams as required to address customers’ requirements.
  • Establishes and maintains effective professional relationships with customers.
  • Liaises with sales representatives as necessary to follow up on quotations they request.
  • Participates as required in internal and external training programs to build technical competency.

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • College Diploma in Architectural Technology, Construction Management/ Engineering Technology, or similar programs

 

Skills and Attributes

Required

  • Proficient in written and spoken English and French
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Experience in estimating procedures and proficiency with quantity takeoffs
  • Intermediate proficiency in Excel
  • Strong analytical abilities with keen attention to detail
  • Time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively

Desired

  • Experience working in the door & frame industry and/or custom metal fabrication environment
  • Experience with the SAGE 300 software package
     

WORK CONDITIONS:

This position requires:

· Extensive computer use and may involve long periods of sitting.

· Extensive mental effort to analyze information and provide estimations.

· Significant relationship management with internal and external stakeholders.

· This position may be hybrid from Ottawa, Ontario.
